George W. Henry HENRY, George W. - Age 83, passed away March 22, 1997 at a local care center. He was born July 20, 1913 in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. He was the ninth and last surviving child of ten children born to Horatio and Ellamanda Henry. He married Ruth on January 27, 1940 in Lehighton, Pennsylvania. They moved to Riddle, Oregon in 1954, previously living in Paimerton, Pennsylvania. George was involved in the start up of Hanna Nickel and retired after 25 years as a mining engineer. Ruth passed away August 8, 1967. He later married Dorothy on December 31, 1968 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. He was a 50 year member of the Riddle Masonic Lodge #148 and had been an active league bowler at Hanna Nickel Bowl. He enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, working in the yard and he loved animals. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dodie” Henry of Riddle, Oregon; daughters, Nina Hedburg of Milwaukie, Oregon; Nancy “Sam” Nichols and her husband Rex of Chandler, Arizona; stepson, David Buhl and his wife Linda of Grants Pass, Oregon; stepdaughter, Cynthia Buhl of Washington, D.C.; grandsons, Greg and Todd Hedberg of Milwaukie, Oregon; Kirk Nichols of Chandler, Arizona; Keith Nichols of U.S.M.A. West Point, New York; and step grandchildren, Jacob and Leah Buhl of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Christopher Buhl serving in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hopper in Maine. Visitation for family and friends will be Tuesday, March 25, 1997 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 26, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Mountain View Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor E. Vance Culpepper. Ritualistic services well be conducted by the Riddle Masonic Lodge #148 A. F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to the Douglas County Animal Shelter, 943 Del Rio Road, Roseburg, Oregon 97470. Private interment will be in Riddle Cemetery, Riddle, Oregon.
