Biography
Ichabod Cabird "Bird" Hensley is estimated to have been born between 1810 and 1811. He was the child of Solomon Hensley.
His father Solomon Hensley was at some point married to Elizabeth Morrison but record is not found for their marriage. There are claims Bird was by a first wife Eva Hickerson to whom Solomon had married in Franklin County, Virginia 9 March 1800.[1] Tax records do appear to place Solomon in this location from 1799 thru 1807.
Bird was married in 1829 to Nancy Webb, a daughter of William and Nancy Webb per her death record.
Ichabod Cabird Hensley was born about 1811 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States. He enlisted as a Private in the U.S. Army on August 23, 1827 but was discharged on April 1, 1828 for being a minor. He married Nancy Webb (1813-1876), daughter of William and Nancy Webb, on January 14, 1829 at Clay County, Illinois. Their known children are: Lucinda Hensley Sammons, Malinda Hensley Morrison, Elizabeth Hensley Kelly, William B. Hensley, Mary Ann Hensley, Sarah Hensley, Columbus Hensley, Salina Fannie Hensley, Emma Alice Hensley Ward, and Willie Hensley. Bird Hensley died prior to 1900 in Cabell County.
