Note: Per Barbara Carol Hensley Kloe's conversation with her father: Robert Bruce's earliest memories ar of living in Rober Mills Co., Oklahoma at about the age of two. He had a pet quail. The end of WWII he remembers being in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He attended the University of OK, transferred to Oklahoma A&M, because of a basketball coach, joined the KE fraternity and waited on tables. From his scrapbook you could say he was a BMOC (big man on campus); graduated with a BS in Science. Worked for Phillips Petroleum Company; was in the National Guard. In the Army he was in the 45th division; went to Sicily for the campaign during WWII. After 30 years of active and inactive service he retired at Ft. Dix, NJ as a full colonel. Moved to Williamsburg, Virginia to live. While in Williamsburg he went back to school and got his MA in Education graduating from William and Mary.

In May 1920 in the Methodist Orphanage of Oklahoma; Britton now in Talhaquah. Public School Weatherford 2nd or 3rd grade. Swopes: Aunt Lela and Virgil R.B. went to Oklahoma City for 1919-20. 1918 in Weatherford at end of WWI. Stayed with Maude, went to school, back for funeral. Aunt Lela went to the Normal in Weatherford for 2 years (now S.W. Teacher's College). Virgil R.B. stayed at the home for one year, went to Britton High School Senior Year. 1928 graduated from Central HS, Oklahoma City. 1929 went ot O.U. 1924 Taft Jr. High in Oklahoma City. 1929-33 Stillwater, Oklahoma A. & M. (now State). 1922 worked for Bass Furniture Store. Sole support of himself. $15 a week. ran elevator and worked in drapery department.
