Oscar E Hensley Tech 4 US ARMY WORLD WAR II Oscar was born in 1920. He was the son of Earnest Hensley and Eva Lowe. He passed away in 2008.
Rev. Oscar E. Hensley, age 87, a resident of Oak Ridge, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, April 20, 2008, at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Hensley was born Dec. 8, 1920, in Anderson County. He was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Hensley was a retired binder foreman for the Department of Energy. He retired in 1985 after 26 years of service.
He served his country in the United States Army during WWII receiving several decorations and citations for battles and campaigns including four bronze battle stars, and a Bronze Arrowhead Medal. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. His hobbies included flower gardening and reading. Mr. Hensley was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hensley and Eva Lowe Hensley; and by a sister, Ethel Braden.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mamie Lee Qualls Hensley of Oak Ridge; by three daughters, Johnnie Fellers and husband, John, of Clinton, Loretta Brown and husband, Jerry, of Athens, and Michelle Giles and husband, Mike, of Oak Ridge; by a son, Ronnie Hensley and wife, Dale, of Kingston; by grandchildren, Michael Fellers and wife, Shellie, of Oak Ridge, Lori Thompson and husband, Curt, of Oak Ridge, Joe Fellers and wife, Tricia, of Knoxville, Adam Hensley and wife, Gina, of Knoxville, and Ashley Giles of Oak Ridge; by six great-grandchildren, Christian and Brennen Thompson, Josie, Olivia, and Will Fellers, and Savanah Humble.
He is survived by five sisters, Jean Carter, Ruby Brown, Louise Seiber, Mary Collett of Oliver Springs, and Jeanette Lively and husband, R.M., of Wartburg; by three brothers, Cordell Hensley of LaFollette, Wilburn Hensley and wife, Bobbie, of Oliver Springs, and Willie Hensley of Oliver Springs; and by a special friend, Andrew Lewis of Clinton.
