"Now I have given you a sketch of 3 of my great grandfather's sons. Now I will tell about the 4th son, Caleb, (Caleb was born Green County Ky, 1817). He married Perlee Walker, or Henson. I think Mr. Reese (Reason) Walker and John and Ben Walker were her (Pearlie Henson Lindsey) half brothers."

In the 1850 Jackson County Illinois Census John Walker b. 1838 was recorded as a 12-year old and living with his half sister, Purley Sindsay (Pearlie Henson Lindsey b. 1824). It is believed that John was an orphan as well as his full sister, Martha Jane Walker b. 1841.
