Biography

Adam was born in 1858. He passed away in 1951.

Adam may have been born in North Carolina, Tennessee, or Missouri.

Adam first married Elmidy Dotson in 1887.[1] After her death he married Clara Lindsay in 1890.[2]

Was Descendant of President Taylor

Ninety-three-year-old Adam Monroe Henson of 70 West Ottawa, great-grandson of Zachary Taylor, twelfth president of the United States, died yesterday afternoon in a McAlester hospital.

He had been in the hospital a week at the time of his death.

Henson had lived in the McAlester vicinity for 35 years. He was born March 27, 1858, in Stoddard County, Mo. President Taylor had died eight years prior to Henson's birth.

The aged McAlesterite was seven years old when Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Henson, a retired farmer, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Henson of the home; three sons, Samuel L. Henson of Kiowa and W.R. and Jess Henson, both of Arpelar; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Pulatie of Queen Creek, Ariz., Mrs. Margaret Ann Demet [Dement] and Mrs. Mollie Mae Dement [Dollie May Dement], both of Tupelo, Mrs. Hulda E. Glenn of Dinuba, Calif., and Mrs. Lennie Coleman of McAlester; 44 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Arpelar Nazarene Church. Rev. L.H. Arnold, pastor of the McAlester Assembly of God church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the Arpelar cemetery under direction of the Humphrey Funeral home.
