Kate was the second of six children, eldest daughter of Thomas and Maria Henwood. At sixteen years old she was living at home, at the 'Courlands', Charlton Kings. [1] Throughout her adult life she worked at a number of different quality stores as a shop assistant, mostly in the glove departments. In the 1901 Census she is found in Bristol, in a small shop run by a French lady, where she was one of only two assistants[2]It is believed that she was interred in the family grave at St. Mary's Church, Charlton Kings. The Gloucester Echo ran an obituary. [3]

Around 1970, my father, Henry Arthur Henwood (Arthur), recounted that Kate was One of the three spinster aunts on my father's side. A very 'genteel & proper' type. Her business life was spent in the glove departments of various departmental stores.
