Biography

Thomas Heppell was born on 10 February 1799 and christened at Wallsend, Northumberland on 31 March 1799. He was the son of Thomas Heppell and his first wife Anne Cowley.[1][2]

On 9 May 1819 in St Hilda's Church, South Shields, Durham, he married Eleanor Halliday.[3][4]

Thomas and Eleanor had children:

Research Notes

  • (William’s father was Thomas Heppell who was born in 1799 in Northumberland. His mother was Eleanor Halliday (1799-1873). 1851 Thomas was a Farmer with 160 acres and employing 2 labourers. By 1861 his farm was 277 acres in size and he was also registered as a publican living in Dean House, Satley, Durham. By 1871 Thomas had retired from farming and was living at 31, Sunderland Street, Newcastle with his wife, a number of family members and lodgers. Eleanor died in 1873 at the age of 71. (Anne Leeming)
