Note: According to the website "Virginians" (cited under Augustine Claiborne, her husband), Mary Claiborne, of "Windsor", deeded slaves to sons Augustine and Thomas Claiborne in trust for her daughter Elizabeth Peterson, wife of Thomas Peterson, 24 May, 1787. Mary left her own will in Sussex County (dated 6 March, 1798, recorded 1 Aug 1799). At her death she held land in New Kent, Dinwiddie, Chesterfield, Surry, and Sussex Counties.
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
