Biography

Emma was born in 1857 in New Jersey, to Isaac Heritage and Hannah T. Penn.

In 1860, Emma was living with her parents and half-siblings in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey. [1]

In 1870, Emma was living in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, with her parents, siblings, and half-siblings. [2]

On 5 July 1874, Emma married Edwin (or Edward) Hutcheson, in Dennisville, Dennis Township, Cape May County, New Jersey. [3] [4] [5] They had one child: [6][7][8]

Charles Hutcheson (1875-1920)

In 1880, Edward and Emma were living in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, with their son Charlie. Edward was a laborer. [6]

In 1900, Edward and Emma were living in Cape May Court House, Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, with their son Charles and his wife and child, and with a boarder. Edward and Charles were bakers. [7]

In 1910, Edwin and Emma were living in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey. They owned the house, which was not mortgaged. Edwin was a laborer at a glass factory, and had been unemployed 0 weeks in 1909. [8]

In 1920, Edwin and Emma were living on Mechanic Street, Cape May County, New Jersey. Edwin was a laborer at a glass factory. [9]

In February 1929, Emma died. [10] She was buried in the First Baptist Cemetery, Cape May Court House, Cape May County, New Jersey. [11]

Research Notes

She is not the Emma Heritage who married Alfred Cox on 4 September 1879 in Philadelphia. According to her death certificate, that Emma was born to Samuel H. Heritage and Lydia Rambo on 26 May 1858, in Thorofare, New Jersey. [12] [13] [14]
