Biography

Isaac Heritage was born about 1823/24, in New Jersey. [1]

On 29 September 1846, Isaac married Jemimah Adams, in Woodbury, Gloucester County, New Jersey. [2] They apparently had at least four children: [3]

William H Heritage (born 1846/47)
Rachel Heritage (born 1850)
James Heritage (born 1851/52)
Joseph Heritage (born 1853/54)

In 1850, they were living in Camden, Camden County, New Jersey, with Rachel, and also with James and John Heritage (perhaps Isaac's brothers?). Isaac was a farmer. [1]

Jemimah died on 5 January 1855. [4]

Isaac Heritage and Hannah Penn were married on 10 April 1856, at Green Creek, New Jersey, by Reverend William Jones. [4] They apparently had at least four children: [5] [3]

Emma Heritage (1857-1929)
Thomas Heritage (1862-before 1920)
Viola Heritage (1866-1944)
George Heritage (1870-1913?)

In 1860, Isaac and Hannah were living in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, with their daughter Emma, and with Isaac's children from marriage to Jemimah. Isaac was a farmer, and owned $200 in personal property. [5]

On 6 September 1864, he enlisted as a private in company K of the 38th New Jersey Regiment. On 30 June 1865, he was mustered out with his company. [4]

In 1870, Isaac and Hannah were living in Middle Township, Cape May County, New Jersey, with their children Emma, Thomas, Viola, and George, and with James and Joseph (children from Isaac's marriage to Jemimah). Isaac was a farmer, and owned $500 in personal property. [3]

He died on 15 September 1870. He was buried in the First Baptist Cemetery, Cape May Court House, Cape May County, New Jersey. [6] [7]
