Biography

Newton was born in 1856. He was the son of Joseph Heritage and Anna Dewees. He worked in his father's carriage shop and as a grocer. Newton died in Philadelphia, of typhoid fever, on 30 March 1884. He is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, along with his parents and sisters Lizzie and Mary.

• Family counted twice in 1870 Census, once in July and again in November.
• Family listed as "Heretage" in 1880 Census.
• The death certificate source that gives an 1885 death date is incorrectly transcribed. The image of the original document clearly says it is for the 1884.
