Biography

John was born in Indiana on 11 March 1912.[1] He was the son of John Heritage and Emma Perry. On 20 October 1935 he married Lois Thurston in Alexandria, Indiana.[1] After that marriage ended, probably in 1941, he married a second time, in May 1942, to Patricia Painter.[2] John died in Olathe, Kansas, where he had moved about 1961, on 25 October 1981.[3] His body was returned to Indiana and was buried in the IOOF Cemetery, Alexandria.[4]

JOHN E. HERITAGE John E. Heritage, 69, a former resident of the Alexandria - Muncie area, died Sunday in Olathe, Kan. , after a brief illness. A native of Frankfort, he had spent the past 20 years in Gardner, Kan., and was plant manager of Delco Battery in Olathe from 1961 until his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Olathe Rotary The Community Center [. . .], Olathe Hospital Board, Olathe Chamber of Commerce and Murat Shrine, the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. Surviving are his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Kathy Laughlin, Olathe, Kan.; a son, John Heritage, Manhattan, Kan.; a brother, Victor Heritage, Cape Girardeau, Mo. ; a sister, Christine Miller, Mill Valley, Calif.; and two granddaughters. Services will be conducted today in Olathe. Cremation fill follow. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Karl M. Kyle Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry E. Thompson officiating. Interment will be at the IOOF Cemetery here. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
  • According to Social Security records on Ancestry, Lois Thurston had resumed her maiden name by June 1941; she married someone named Humphreys in 1971, and died on 24 August 2001.
