In early 1778 Pedro Sanchez, Maria Lopez Hernandez, and their two children, Maria and Andras, left the Canary Islands aboard the ship "San Juan Nepromuceno" destined first for Havana, then Louisiana.[1] On December 9, 1778 they departed from Havana aboard the same ship and were listed on this ship's manifest.[3]
After arriving in Louisiana they were sent to Valenzuela, near present-day Plattenville, where they settled and would go on to have at least five additional children.[4]
Maria Lopez Hernandez was buried on September 27, 1825 at the Assumption Catholic Church cemetery, Plattenville, Assumption Parish, Louisiana. Her burial was recorded in the Catholic Church registers of Assumption of Plattenville.[2][7]
