Biography

John Herring was born in early 1789. He was the son of Athanasius Herring and Mary unknown. He was christened on 24th March 1789 in Uttoxeter, St Mary, Staffordshire, England. [1]

John married Eliza Anne Loveday on 12th February 1834 in Nusseerabad, Bengal, British India. [2] They had a son, John William, born in England in 1839.

John attained the rank of Colonel in the British Army.

Aged 50 years, he passed away on 3rd September 1839 in Haidar Khel, North West Frontier, British India (Pakistan).
