Wiliam Hersey was born in Sussex, England.

William Hersey was born in Southwick, Sussex in 1854. His parents were William, born around 1821, and Mary nee Mitchell.[1]

In 1861, William was living on Southwick Green, with his parents and three siblings.[2]
Marriage 1875
William married Sarah Baldey Pinyoun in St Peter’s Church, Brighton, on October 31st 1875. The groom was a 21 year old Mariner, the bride was 7 years his senior at age 28.[3][4]
