Biography

Nathaniel Stone Hersey was born in Leicester, Massachusetts in 1788, the son of Elijah Hersey and Beulah Waite. He and Asenath Slayton married in Calais, Vermont about 1817 and raised their large family there. Nathaniel Hersey died in Calais in 1864.

Research Notes

Variant spellings: Hearsey, Hersey, Hershey, Hursey; by 1820/30, this branch of the family descended from Elijah Hersey of Worcester County, Massachusetts had largely settled on the spelling Hersey, however, records with other variants should be considered and evaluated.
