Biography
Daughter and heiress of Sir Thomas Hertford, Lord of Hertford, County York. She married Sir Richard Tempest.
They were the parents of:
- Richard Tempest - born abt. 1355 in Yorkshire, England. He married Isabel de Clitherow, daughter and co-heiress with her sister Mary, of Sir Hugh de Clitherow and Isabel, stepmother of Sir Richard Tempest. They married abt. 1388. He was Knight of Bracewell and Studley, County York, 8th of Henry IV. Will dated Aug. 26, 1427, proved Sept. 30, 1428.
Sir Richard Tempest was Governor of Berwick-on-Tweed, 16th of Edward III, 1343, in which year Sir Thomas de Hertford, his father-in-law, entailed the manors of Hertford and Appleton, by fine, upon Richard and Joanna, his wife.
