Samuel was born in August 3, 1878 in Eddyville, Iowa. ^[1]He is the son of Samuel Heskett and Ada Conway. Samuel and Ada are living on County Avenue in Sheldahl, Story, Iowa in 1880.^[2] Their children, Charles, Mary, and Samuel are also with them. Samuel Sr was a harness maker and Ada was keeping house.

Samuel's family were living at 1308 2nd in 1885 in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa in 1885.^[3] Samuel was a carpenter. He's also eligible for military duty and to vote. Samuel, Ada, and all their children were present.

The Heskett family was living in Des Moines' Fourth Ward, Polk County, Iowa in 1895.^[4] Samuel, Ada, and all their children were living in the home. Samuel lists his religion as "free thinker", while the rest of the family is listed as "Christian." Charles is subject to military duty. Samuel Sr was entitled to vote.
