Henry Roscoe Hess was born on 10 Dec 1888 in Iola, Allen, Kansas, the son of William Hess and Cora E. Townsend.[1][2]
Henry married Jesse Spurgeon in about 1909. They had at least the following children:[3]
In 1910, Roscoe Hess, 21 b. Kansas, a crusher in a cement plant, lived at 401 S. Colborn (Collum?) St., Iola, with his wife Jessie, 22 b. Missouri. The couple was been married within the year. Roscoe said his father was born in Germany and his mother in Kansas, while Jessie said her father was born in Illinois and her mother in Missouri.[4]
When he registered for the World War 1 Draft, Henry Roscoe Hess said he was 28 years old, born in Iola, Kansas, on 10 Dec 1888. He lived at 204 S. Fourth in Iola and worked as a zinc maker for the Prime Western Spelter Co. in Iola. He had a wife and 3 children. Henry was of medium height and build, with blue eyes and light hair.[5]
He married Ruth E. Strong on 3 June 1922 at her parents home.[6] They had at least the following children:
In 1930, Henry R. Hess and his wife Ruth E., lived in Iola, Allen, Kansas. Henry was a ?? salesman for a milling company.[7]
He died on 26 Oct 1949 and is buried at the Highland Cemetery, Iola, Allen, Kansas: Plot: Section 20.[2]
