Jørgen (Jenssen) Sterri was born in Norway
Biography
Jørgen was born about 1725 to Jens Nilssen & Lucretia Georgsdatter on the Beim farm in Hafslo, Norway. He was baptized 29 Mar 1725 in Hafslo, Norway.
Jørgen inherited the Sterri farm by letter of probate dated in 1741. By the agreement of May 2nd 1746 he and his brother-in-law Peder took over half the farm with farm house, and on February 16th 1753 they received the other half of the house.
The settlement of February 6th 1751 agreed that Hans, the oldest son of Hans Hess Jensson of Beim ( Jørgen's half-brother), should have Beim farm and Jørgen should keep Sterri by birthright.
Even if Hans waived the right to Sterri, his son Hans Hansson brought Jørgen to court. On February 24th 1763, Jørgen transfered ownership of the farm to Hans. But on April 3rd 1763 Hans sold the farm back to Jørgen, and on April 6th 1764 Jørgen received the deed to produce butter from his sister Unni.
Jørgen and Metta lived on the Sterri farm for their lifetime, but the farm was rented out for farming activities in 1784. He Died in 1792 at the Sterri farm in Hafslo, Norway.
