Biography
When Jacob Hess was born on 10 November 1785, in Forks Township, Northampton, Pennsylvania, United States, his father, Johann William Hess Sr, was 41 and his mother, Anna Catharina Godhard, was 46. He had at least 1 son and 1 daughter with Maria Ripple. He lived in Catawissa, Columbia, Pennsylvaniain 1820. He died after 1827, in Columbia, Pennsylvania.
Johann Jacob was born in 1785 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, the son of William Hess and Catharina Godhard. He settled in Sugarloaf Township, but later removed to Catawissa. Like his brothers, he contributed to the building of St. Gabriel's. His father spent the last days with him, and the context of the father's will indicates that Jacob was married to a Mary and had a family.
