In the research, I could get as far as March 1779 with the birth of John George Howry. At this point I started looking at the wife of John George Howry, who gave birth to all the children (10), Catherine Hess. Where did she and her folks come from? Since she was born and married in Bedford, Virginia, that was the place to start. She was an only child, which was very unusual for these times. So it’s no wonder she had ten children; I guess she always wanted a big family.
