Biography

Elsie May Hewitt was born on April 19, 1886 in Northampton, Burlington, New Jersey.[1] She was a daughter of Joseph Hewitt and Mary Atkinson. She was baptized with her sister, Hester D Hewitt, on April 30, 1898 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Mount Holly, Burlington.[2] In 1900, she was living with her parents, grandmother and sister in Northampton.[3]

Elsie married Nathaniel Smith in 1908 in New Jersey. In 1910, they were living with her parents and sister in Burlington, Burlington county. Elsie worked as a packer in a shoe factory.[4] In 1920, Elsie was still living with her parents in Burlington, but without her husband. She worked as a stocking knitter at a stocking factory.[5]

Elsie married Clarence Reagers on June 2, 1922 at the Broad Street United Method church in Burlington.[6][7] 1930 through 1940, Elsie, Clarence and James Hewitt were living with Elsie’s mother in Burlington, Burlington county. Elsie was working as a stocking knitter at a stocking factory.[8][9] They had a daughter:

  1. Ella Louise- b. 22 Aug 1923[10] - d. 10 May 1997 m. Kenneth Schildkamp[11] m. Rivera[12][13]

She died on May 30, 1969 in Burlington, Burlington, New Jersey.[14][15]
