Caleb was born about 1775.
Caleb married Joanna Green (1774–1858). They had the following children:

Charles Hewitt 1816–
Achus M. Hewitt 1825–1907
He married 2nd Lydia Beebe Holcomb (1810–1880), the widow of Alpheus Holcomb.
