R. Heyland, 31st Lancers. He served in British East Africa, 1901; took part in.the operations against the OgadeIll Somalis in Jubaland (Medal with clasp). Served in Aden, 1903-4, during the operations in the interior. Major Heyland joined the Supply and Transport Corps. He served in the European War in France, 1914-15, and was created a Companion of the Distinguished Service Order [London Gazette, 23 June, 1915]: Arthur Kyffin Heyland, Major, Supply and Transport.
