Birth

Zimri was born September 5, 1731 in Lunenburg.[1]

Marriage

Zimri's intent to marry was listed in Lynn's Town Records September 6, 1755. The couple were noted as living in "Dorchester Cannada" - aka Ashburnham.[2]

Zimri wed Jane Foster June 5, 1756 in Lunenburg. Justice of the Peace Edward Hartwell performed the ceremony.[3]

Life Events

1755: Ashburnham; "He resided in Ashburnham, and was an early settler there. When Ashby was incorporated in 1767 his farm and mill were included in that town, and later removed to Winslow, ME., where he died. Children: 1. Rebecca Willis, b. Jan. 9, 1757. 2. Eunice, b. June 16, 1760. 3. Nathan, b. Mar. 15, 1762. 4. Elizabeth, b. May 20, 1764. 5. Thomas, b. May 5, 1766."[4]

1767: Zimri owned a Lumber Mill with brother-in-law Moses Foster in Ashby, MA.[5]

1775: Winslow; Early in The Revolutionary War, Col. Benedict Arnold led a failed expedition to capture Quebec City. The group stopped at Ft. Halifax after navigating some of the difficult portages on the Kennebec River. Zimri provided shelter for the soldiers while they were in the area.[6]

1781: Winslow; Served as a tax assessor and Representative to The General Court in 1782.[7]

1786: Winslow; Elected, March 6th, as a delegate to attend a formation of Maine convention in Falmouth. Vote was 22-11 to send a delegate. During the September Town Meeting the town voted against paying Zimri for attending two prior conventions.[8]

1790: Winslow: Census record shows a household of nine. Four females, four males over 16 and one male under 16.[9]

1798: Winslow; Purchased Lot 85 in Norridgewock from Joshua Chamberlin for 125 Pounds.[10]

Military Service

Private: Eleazer Lawrence Company, Massachusetts Militia. French and Indian War Crown Point Campaign.[11]

Captain: 6th Company, 2nd Regiment in the Lincoln County Massachusetts Militia. Revolutionary War.[12]

Death

Zimri passed July 14, 1798 in Winslow. "He dropped dead as he was going to his house." He is buried in Winslow's Ft. Hill Cemetery. Note: Winslow was then located in the Maine District of MA.[13]
