Former Hastings resident Phyllis (Hiatt) Adcock, 85, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 in Johnson City, Tennessee.

A Celebration of Life Open House will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, May 3, 2014 at DeWitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service followed by a graveside service at 4:30pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Phyllis was born April 13, 1928 in Kennard, Nebraska, the daughter of Vern and Laura Hiatt. She moved with her family in the 1930's to Hastings. Phyllis married Kenneth Adcock, they later separated. A single mother, she worked many interesting jobs from secretary to night clerk at the Clark Hotel in downtown Hastings.

In 2007 Phyllis moved to Johnson City, Tennessee, to be closer to her eldest son and his family and where she made many new friends. In 2011 she moved to the NHC nursing home and once again found new friends. She was a bright, intelligent, and beautiful woman with a witty sense of humor, and could carry a conversation about almost anything with the best of them. Phyllis loved to garden and fix meals for her family.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Steven Adcock and his wife Charlene of Johnson City, Tennessee, and Teena McCloud and her husband Roger of Olathe, Kansas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Stager and her husband Corey of Lincoln, Nebraska, Tracy Ahlman of Olathe, Kansas, Lisa Baker of Overton, Nebraska, Krisha Wilson and her husband Derrick of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Jason Adcock of Springdale, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Alek Mackey, Addison Wilson, and Ashton Wilson; three brothers, Marvin Hiatt and his wife Marge, Eugene Hiatt, and Dwaine Hiatt and his wife Teresa; along with the Scribeiber Family, Kathleen, Stan, Matt, Angela, Justin, and Ashton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Craig Adcock; and two sisters, Linda Sansone and Eunice Hiatt. 1
