Biography

Elizabeth was a Friend (Quaker)
  • Elizabeth Hiatt was born on the 22nd of November, 1745 to George Hiatt) and Martha Wakefield) in Frederick County, Virginia.[1][2]
  • Johnson's concluding comment is she "probably died young or unmarried. No further record of her has been found." [1]

Note of Caution Numerous secondary and tertiary sources list a Peter Turley as Elizabeth's husband. Find a Grave [3] is a good example. No marriage record has been found, and more over, it is argued that the birth year of 1745 is much too early and that it should be in the 1760's. The single primary source available gives Elizabeth's birth date as 22 Nov 1745, thus if we accept Peter Turley as Elizabeth's husband we must discard the only primary source[2] available to us. In addition, the proposed birth date would put her mother into her fifty's at the time of her birth.
