Lydia (Hickman) Rathburn (1866 - 1938)

When Lydia Hickman was born on May 5, 1866, in Van Wert, Ohio, her father, Henry, was 50, and her mother, Lydia, was 45. In 1870, Lydia, age 3, lived with her parents family in Watson, Allegan, Allegan, Michigan, USA^[1] In 1880, Lydia, age 13, lived with her parents family in Vermontville, Eaton, Michigan, USA^[2] Lydia, age 18, married Newman Caleb Rathburn, age 22, on July 3, 1884, in Vermontville, Michigan. ^[3][4]

They had six children.

In 1910, Lydia, age 43, lived with her family in Brighton, Livingston, Michigan, USA^[5] In 1920, Lydia, age 53, lived with her family in Lansing, Ingham, Michigan, USA^[6] In 1930, Lydia, age 63, lived with her family in Hamburg, Hamburg, Livingston, Michigan, USA^[7] Lydia died on September 15, 1938, from Breast Cancer, in Lansing, Michigan, at the age of 72, and was buried there on September 17, 1938 in Mt. Hope cemetery.^[8][9]

Mrs. Lydia Rathburn

Mrs. Lydia Rathburn. 73, a resident of Lansing for the past 40 years, died Thursday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John Miner. 640 North Magnolia avenue, following a year's illness.

Besides her daughter she is survived by the husband, Newman Rathburn, of Lansing; a son, Floyd, of Los Angeles, Cal. two other daughters, Mrs. William Parkinson of Brighton and Mrs. Leona Robbins of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Robinson-Barber funeral home where funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. C. M. Mullenburg officiating. Interment will be in MT- Hope cemetery.^[10]
