Elsie Hickman was born 7 Jun 1890[1] in West Bromwich[2], the daughter of Annie and George Hickman. She was baptised at St Andrew's Church in West Bromwich on 29 Jun 1890[3].
She appears on the 1891 Census[4] with her family at Bilhay Lane, West Bromwich (as "Elise"). She then appears on the 1901 Census[5] at 31 Claypit Lane with her family. She may possibly appear on the 1911 Census[6] at 74 Nicholl Street in West Bromwich as a servant in the Grigg family.
She married Arthur Jakeways in 1914[7]. He passed away in Jan 1939.
On the 1939 Register, Elsie was a widow living at 5 Farm Street, West Bromwich[8] with four children, Arthur, Doris, George and Harry.
She remarried in 1940 to her deceased sister Edith's widower Walter Davies[9].
