Asa Hickock served in the Revolutionary War entering at New York at the first call for troops in April and May 1775 and was a Sargent under Capt Elijah Hinman, 13 Reg of Militia, Col. Hinman commanding, which Reg later was ordered to march as soon as possible to secure Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Point against recapture. A request to this effect was make by the Cont'l Congress. Reg. reached Ticonderoga in June and Col Hirman assumed command until the arrival of Gen Schuyler. He took part in the operations of the Northern Dep't until the end of his term of service and enlisted the second time in August 1776.
