Hi Deirdre - One of our Dunham cousins is working on the paper trail. DNA has confirmed another Dunham cousin, and DNA may be the way to solve the mystery. I've found other Dunham and Hempton cousins this way. Still looking for more! Happy to go into more details if it's of interest. Rich Capen
Deirdre - I went to enter my 4th GGPs William F Dunham and Sarah Metcalf - and you beat me to it! William is my #1 brick wall. I have lots of data on him - some of it pretty bad. I even have some Hickok data. My line goes through their daughter Louisa. Hoping to compare notes. Also very interested to know if you have done any autosomal DNA tests, as I have. Thanks, Rich Capen

Thank you. There are still quite a few Wampanaog descended people in Massachusetts, mostly on Cape Cod. And Thank you for pointing me in the direction of the New England Historical Genealogical Society!
I agree, Deirdre, it is difficult to find information on Native Americans, especially the older, non-extant tribes. However, if I am not mistaken, there are still Wampanoag-descended Indians living in Massachusetts. You could probably find a modern social organization that could direct you in the right direction. Otherwise, try the New England Historical Genealogical Society, as they are the most organized genealogy group in that area.
