Dorcas Hickok was born Apr 10, 1730 in Woodbury, Litchfield, CT to Stephen Hickok and Bethia Root ^[1]

She was baptized Apr 12, 1730 in Woodbury, Litchfield, CT

Marriage

She was married to Gideon Johnson Jun 6, 1753 in Woodbury, Litchfield, CT^[2][1] Dorcas and children were menitoned in Gideon's will, ^[3]

Death

After Gideon died, she lived with her daughter Tryphena in Norway, Herkimer, NY until she died abt 1805 ^[1]

Her will was probated in Herkimer, New York, being finalized in Feb 1806, as stated in the images. ^[13][14] The records in the surrogates office show that her will was the first from Norway, Herkimer, NY to be proved. Andrew Hinman and Jared Smith were the executors.^[1]

16 May 1805: In the Name of God amen. I Dorkus Johnson of Southbury in the county of Litchfield in the State of Connecticut at this present time through the goodness of God to me In soundness of mind and memory and knowing it is apointed for all men to die do therefor make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament.First I commit my soul into the hand of God who gave it and my body to a decent burial at the discresition of my Exectors hearafter named. Hoping for the pardon of all my sins in and through the merits and righteousness of Jesus Christ whome I take to be my only savour and redeemer and to my worldly goods God hath gratiously bestowed on me after my just debts and funeral charges are paid I give and bequeath in manner following:

Secondly I give to my four daughters vis Hannah Hancock, Lois Coe, Dorcas Smith and Tryphena Hinman all my movebal estate household good waring apparel of what nature or kind soever to be equaly divided to them by my exectors hearafter named also all my cattel cowes sheep and horses and all my bonds notes and books debts covenants and ____ for property of what nature or name since it my be.

Thirdly I give to Leman Johnson four accres of land situate in Oxford in the county of New Haven in the State of Connecticut at a place ___ Quaker Farm hath a dweling house and lyes or is bounded south Capt Alijah Hides land westerly on Benjamen ___ land and north and east on the high way.

Fourthly I give to my four sons vis Hiram Johnson, Solomon Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Gideon Johnson one Dollar to each of them yt is four dollars to be equally divided to them or paid by my exectors out of my estate

Fifthly I apoin Jared Smith and Andrew Hinman my execttors to settel this my last will and testament vis collect all my debts and property and pay my debts and legers (?) and divide my good agreabel to this my last will.
