John Newman Hicks was born on 1/14/1908.[1] He was the sixths child of Mashack Hicks (14 Feb 1869) and Mary Ann Ferguson (03 Jul 1870). He had three brothers ( William Hicks (20 Jun 1899), Robert Walter Hicks (09 May 1902), Ralph Hicks (25 Jul 1910)) and three sisters (Catharine Hicks (Aug 1893), Rettie Hicks (14 Aug 1894), Mattie Belle Hicks (25 May 1905)). When he was 5 years old, his father Mashack Hicks died (6/8/1913). When he was 34 years old, his mother Mary Ann Ferguson died (5/25/1942).
On 11/3/1930, he married Satre Sharp (24 Nov 1912). He was 22 years old when he married Satre Sharp, who was 17 years old at that time. He had two children with Satre Sharp: Billie Kate Hicks (1932), Bobby Gene Hicks (1933).
On 10/4/1995, he died in Knoxville, Knox, Tennessee when he was 87 years old. In 1995, he was buried in Knoxville, Tennessee.[2] His wife Satre Sharp died on 10/10/2005, 10 years after him.
