Victoria was born in 1839 in the Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory. She was the daughter of Elijah Hicks and Margaret Ross, both Cherokee. She married DeWitt Lipe on September 4, 1861. [1] They were the parents of a son, John. [2] Victoria died August 24, 1867 and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Rogers County, Oklahoma. [3]
Research Notes
Emmet Starr gives Victoria's birth year as 1839. This seems more likely to be correct that the date on Find-A-Grave (her headstone is missing) given the ages of her siblings.
