Lieutenant Crawford Hicks was a POW of Stalag Luft III during World War II.
Elmer was born 10 February 1921 in Leitchfield, Kentucky. He was the son of Elmer Haden Hicks and Myrtle Helen Crawford.
Crawford was the pilot of the B-17 bomber 'Casa de Embriagos' #42-31725 on a mission to Oschersleben, Germany. The bomber was shot down by German fighter aircraft. 9 of the crew survived and became POWs in German camps. The bombardier, Lester Kunz, was killed.
