Widower of Emily Wilbur and farmer in Pleasant Valley.
Upon the old homestead farm in Pleasant Valley town, Edward S. Hicks was born March 26, 1823, and was reared to rural life, receiving the usual education of the
district school, after which he taught in the neighborhood for one term. On September 25, 1844, he married Emily Wilber, a native of the town of Hyde Park, and a daughter of Sylvanus Wilber,
Emily Wilber died February 4, 1862, and on November 19, 1862, Mr. Hicks married Jennie M. Lattin (Emily's niece), who was born in Pleasant Valley town, where the birth of her father, John W. Lattin, also occurred (in October 1810).
