Lucy Etta Hicks was born on May 27, 1861 in Sackville, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of John M. Hicks and Jane Scott. Etta grew up on the family farm in Midgic.
She married Mansfield Hicks on June 3, 1877. They had 4 biological children and 1 adopted daughter, Minnie. Minnie, and her biological mother Cora Thompson, were living with the Hicks's at the time of the 1911 census, when Minnie was 11 months old.
Living with the family in 1881 was Jane Dory, age 13. Relationship unknown. She was attending school.
Etta died on November 22, 1929 in Sackville, New Brunswick and was buried in the Midgic Cemetery.
