Biography

Gertrude May Hicks (married name Prentice) was born in 1889 in Chiltern, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Elizabeth (McKay) Hicks and William John Hicks.^[1]

She married Alec Prentice in 1914 in Victoria.^[2] Their children were:

• Isabella Mary Prentice (1915–)^[3][4]
• Dorothy Jean Prentice (1917–?)^[5]
• Lorimer Lesley Prentice (1918–1984)^[6]
• Vivienne Betty Prentice (1920?–2019)^[7]
• Alexander John Prentice (1921–1988)^[5]

Alec died in January 1937 in Wangaratta, Victoria.^[5]

Getrude died on 11 September 1978 in Rutherglen, Victoria.^[8] Her remains were interred at the Chiltern Cemetery in Chiltern, Victoria.^[8]
