Nathaniel Hix/Hicks was born in Virginia, probably the son of Nathaniel Hicks and Ruth Bugg. He first appears in records on a marriage bond from 1783. His family must have already moved to Georgia because the marriage bond lists Georgia as his home. His parents' names are supported by the presence of a "Sherwood Bugg" on his marriage bond.
Nathaniel Hix in the Virginia, Compiled Marriages, 1660-1800
Name: Nathaniel Hix
Spouse: Frances Burton
Marriage Date: 9 Oct 1783
Marriage Location: Mecklenburg County, Virginia
[1]
Nathaniel Hix and Sherwood Bugg appraised the estate of Edmund Bugg in 1783. [2]
A Nathaniel Hix/Hicks died intestate in Georgia in 1794, and Edmund Hicks was issued letters of administration in December, 1794. It is unclear whether this is Nathaniel the father or the son. Edmund would have to be at least 21 years old in 1794, so he could not be the son of the younger Nathaniel unless his mother was not Frances Burton.
