Sophia Magdalena Hieb was born on February 13, 1837 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia. Her parents were Wilhelm Adam Hieb and Margaretha (Kapp) Hieb. Sophia was baptized on February 14, 1837 in Neudorf.
On February 17, 1907, at the age of 70, Sophia passed away in Martin, ND. She is buried in
Saint Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Martin.
Sophia's 6th and 7th children (Gottlieb and Johann) were twins who died at age 14 within 5 days of each other.
