Biography

Birth

Friedrica was born on June 12, 1848 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Balthasar Hieb and Carolina (Ohlauser) Hieb. She was the sixth of their 10 children. Friedrica was baptized on June 26, 1848.[1]


Family

On November 12, 1868, at the age of 20, Friedrica married Valentin Leer (1850-1926) in the nearby village of Kassel.[2]

Immigration

On May 13, 1874, at the age of 25, Friedrica, her husband, and 2 children arrived in Baltimore, MD aboard the S.S. Hermann traveling from Bremen, Germany.[3]


Death

On August 17, 1910, at the age of 62, Friedrica passed away in Napa County, CA. She is buried in Lodi Memorial Park and Cemetery in Lodi, CA.[4][5]
