Biography

Birth

Maria Elisabeth was born on May 23, 1821 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Johann Adam Hieb (Jr.) and Magdalena (Kirschenmann) Hieb. She was the third of her father's 15 children and the third of her mother's 7 children.[1][2]

In 1846, around the age of 25, Maria Elisabeth married Johann Andreas Rüb (1803-1857) in the nearby village of Hoffnungstal.[1]

Children:
  1. Karoline (1847-1869)
  2. Jakob Matthaus (1849-1925)

Research Notes

  • Brent Goodman (7/18/21): Birth year in Hoffnungstal record shows 1822, but also shows possible 1821 "(? RL 1821)" based on age from census. 1822 is too close to next sibling so going with 1821.
  • Brent Goodman (7/18/21): The death dates on her 2 hoffnungstal records have a difference of 10 years (24 Jun 1898 vs. 24 Jun 1908). Going with the record that is closest to her death.
