Wilhelm was born in 1830 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Johann Adam Hieb and Magdalena (Kirschenmann) Hieb. he was the fifth of his father's 15 children and the fifth of his mother's 7 children.[1]
Family
On November 24, 1853, at the age of 23, Wilhelm married Anna Maria Werre (1836-unknown) in Neudorf.[2]
