Gottlieb was born on March 12, 1853 in the village of Neudorf in the Glückstal district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Balthasar Hieb and Elisabeth (Trefz) Hieb. He was the fourth of their 10 children.[1]
Death
On May 25, 1912, at the age of 59, Gottlieb passed away in Lodi, CA.[2]
