About 1826 (probably in Fairfield County, Ohio), Daniel Hiestand married Nancy Krans/Crause. The marriage date is estimated based on the age of their oldest known child, Margaret Hiestand (born about 1827), as reported in the 1850 federal census.[2]
In 1850,[2] Daniel Heaston [sic] (age 50, born Ohio) was living in Madison Township, Hancock County, Ohio as head of household with his wife, Nancy Heaston [sic] (age 47, born Ohio), with their Heaston [sic] children, born Ohio (age, sex): i) Margaret (23, F), ii) Daniel, Jr. (20, M), iii) George (18, M), iv) Mich (16, M), v) Delah (11, F), vi) Martin (9, M), vii) S. There is currently a dearth of primary sources to support the biography of Daniel Hiestand. The only solid primary source is the 1850 federal census, but it only establishes that there was a Daniel Heaston with his family in Hancock County, Ohio. Whether this was in fact the Daniel Hiestand of this WikiTree profile is unclear. Hiestand-529 02:06, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
