Biography

George was born in 1883. He was the son of John Higdon and Darcus Bailey. He passed away in 1958.

George and Levi appear to have been twins.

In 1928, George sold a house that he built, possibly between 1904 and 1925, to Granville Calhoun. The Calhoun House, as it is currently called, is a historic site located at the Hazel Creek trailhead, near Campsite 86 of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Granville operated it as a boarding house and renamed it Calhoun Hotel. It remained in operation until 1967.[1][2][3]
