Important Note: I am looking through information again and I do not believe this William B Higdon I found is the same person. I noticed that in the 1910 census, he is not listed as a veteran of the Civil War. I looked into the records involving the35th Regiment (see below) and there was a card for a widow's pension in 1880 (when William B Higdon was still alive). Furthermore, this other William B Higdon was from Grayson County and while it is very close to Washington, Nelson, Marion, and Hardin Counties, our William B Higdon never lived there. I thought he was there in the 1870 census, however I found a William Bennett Higdon on Find a Grave[3] who fits this listing better. I will edit the census information on this profile as well.
I will leave the original information/references for this in this section in case others wish to investigate further, if they stumble upon this in their own research and wish to know more about my reasonings, if someone made a similar mistake, etc.
It was previously believed he served in the 35th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry for the Union in the Civil War.[4] For more information about this regiment, here is an overview from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/35th_Regiment_Kentucky_Volunteer_Infantry
In the 1850 and 1860 census, William is shown to be living at home. I believe the "F" middle initial in the 1850 census to be a transcription error. The 1920 census has his middle initial as a "C", but everything else is close enough that I believe it is him.

I previously believed this to be William Bernard/Burnett Higdon, however after finding a William Bennett Higdon on Find a Grave[10], I believe it is a different person. The wife "M M" being "Mary Martha" and the daughter being "Eliza Ellen" work more for William Bennett than William Bernard. Please see my notes in the "Civil War" section for more information.
