Biography

John was born in 1843. He died in 1917 at the age of 73 - 74.

John was enrolled as a recruit Private in Company A, 5th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on 8/11/1862, but is listed as deserted en route to the regiment. Record then show he enlisted in the 35th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on 7/27/1863 and was mustered in as a Corporal in Company A. He served in this capacity through the last two years of the conflict and saw the war through to it's conclusion. He was promoted to Sergeant on 7/10/1865, and was honorably mustered out of Federal service ten days later.
